What we do
To benefit the community of Aviemore and Vicinity which lies within the Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council boundary area and to act as a vehicle to progress ideas and projects which improve the immediate environment for both the local population and visitors to the area.
MAKING AVIEMORE A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
Our hanging baskets and planters make such a difference to how the village looks and feels. After the year we have all had, it’s more important than ever that we do what we can do to brighten up Aviemore and lift the spirits of visitors and locals alike.
ACE took over the Winter Lights when the council were unable to continue, and thanks to the support and generosity of local businesses, the community and many individuals, this continues to be a successful project.
In partnership with Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council, we are managing the refurbishment of the Village Green. Works have included a new bandstand, repositioning of the Olympic statue with further landscaping and stone seating planned for the future.
CHILDREN’S WINTER LIGHT DESIGN
Primary 6 pupils at Aviemore Primary School entered their designs for a bespoke winter light. ‘Hamish’, by Hamish Ball was the clear winner in 2020 and the light now hangs in pride of place at the village green.
ACE is proud to be working on this project , in collaboration with Aviemore Primary School and local youth groups, including the Scouts and Beavers. The outdoor classroom will be used for teaching in an outdoor setting and will be of enormous benefit to local young people.
ACE is responsible for the management and development of various areas of community land – including Riverside Park, Milton Woods, river access at the Old Bridge Inn and others.
christmas eve parade
This annual event is a major part of the festivities in Aviemore for visitors and locals. The parade had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, but in other years, the community comes together to make this event a success.
Providing each child at Aviemore Primary School with a fully stocked pencil cases on their return to school after lockdown to remove the need to share, is just one of the ad hoc projects we have taken on over the last year.
